What is YouTube?  

You Tube is a website that you can upload, view, and shair videos.  

 

What can you find on YouTube?

You can find just about anything on YouTube.  You can find your favorite T.V. Shows, movie clips, how to ideas, and so much more.

Hands on Presentation: 

 

How to upload a video to YouTube.

 

1. Sign up for You Tube

 

2. Click on the upload button at the top of the screen

 

3. Type in the title of your video

 

4. Type in the description of your video (this will help people find your video, so do not skip this step)

 

5. Pick a category that best describes your video

 

6. Type in a "tag" (this is what the people will type in to search for a video and then will find yours)

 

7. Select your broadcast option (remember if you do not want to share it with the world you need to click private)

 

8. Now you can set your preferences for sharing your videos with others.  (This includes comments, comment voting, video responses, ratings, embedding, and syndication.) Remember if you do not want one of these items to take place with your video, mark the do not allow button.

 

9. Click the "upload video" button at the bottom of your screen

 

10. Click browse to find your video on the computer (wherever you have it saved)

 

11. Once you have the video selected you click upload video

 

12. If you were successful in the upload you will see a page that says “Thank you for uploading a video”

 

 

 


 

How can you use it in your classroom?

 

1. Have students do a video presentation on a subject and have them upload it to YouTube.

2. Teachers (of older students) can put their lectures on the web and have a link for the students to watch.

3. Teacher can use movie clips that are found on YouTube to enhance their lesson.

4. Teachers can use technology in a lesson and can then upload what the child has created to a video site.

5. Teachers can use it as a 3-D model for children to see an object not just in a book or on paper.
